Fighting Injustice

The Lord is righteous, he loves justice.Psalms 11:7

At SHV, our desire for Kingdom justice is rooted in God’s love for justice. When we speak of Kingdom Justice, we are living out Jesus’ prayer that God’s kingdom would be as real here on earth as it is in heaven.

At SHV, we join with God in working towards justice in these specific ways:

  1. We come alongside those experiencing hunger with practical help and dignity through the Hope Starts Here food bank. (Matthew 25:35-40)
  2. We work to repair the deep wounds that the sin of racism and the systems of white supremacy have caused in us as individuals, as a community of faith, and in our wider culture. In relationship with God and others, we do this ongoing work through the Racial Justice Journey (Ephesians 2:14-22, Philippians 2:1-13)
  3. We care for God’s creation through careful stewardship of our resources. (Genesis 1:28)
